Monday, May 28th to be Milton Memorial Day Observance
Services to begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Town Green
Under the joint leadership of both Milton’s Veterans Agent, Kevin J. Cook and members of the American Legion Post #114, Milton’s Memorial Day program has been finalized.
This year’s Memorial Day Observance is scheduled for Monday, May 28th. Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Town Green with the raising of the flag and placement of wreaths at the Town’s War Memorial by members of the Legion Post.
Shortly after this ceremony, elected state and local officials, Milton Police and Fire Department Color Guards, Legion members, the Auxiliary Fire Department and Milton’s scout troops will proceed to Milton Cemetery accompanied by the Milton High School marching band.
Services at Milton Cemetery will begin at 10:00 a.m. Welcoming remarks will be given by Veterans Agent, Kevin Cook, Legion Post Commander Paul McDonnell and Cemetery Trustee Joseph M. Reardon. Legion member Frank Stout will act as Master of Ceremonies.
Master Chief Petty Officer, U.S. Navy and Command Master Chief at the U.S. Naval War College, Craig R. Cole will be this year’s keynote speaker. Command Master Chief Cole enlisted in the United States Navy in 1996 and continues his service in the United States Navy today. Among his awards and decorations, Officer Cole’s military career includes serving on the USS Constitution with Veterans Agent Kevin Cook.
A roll call of all recently deceased veterans will be read as a tribute to the service of these men and women. All residents, friends and family are cordially invited to attend the Memorial Day Observance.
