Stephen Kelleher announces candidacy for Town Meeting Member for Precinct 8
Meet Town Meeting Member for Precinct 8 candidate, Stephen Kelleher
Stephen Kelleher of 93 Nancy Road has announced he will be a candidate for Town Meeting Member in Precinct 8 for the April 24, 2018 Town Election. Kelleher is a lifelong resident of Milton, and former Town Meeting Member in Precinct Four.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to advocate for residents of Precinct 8, by serving on Town Meeting. I look forward to working with elected officials on the Warrant including the town budgets, zoning and citizen articles. I seek to maintain and enhance the existing character and quality of life in Milton.”
Kelleher recently joined the East Milton Neighborhood Association (EMNA) and plans to take an active role in the proposed Adams Court Development with 50 units mixed use rental and retail development in East Milton Square. The current proposal is for a building with four stories including 13 units at 2 bedrooms and 37 one bedroom units. The proposal also includes office space of 7,787 square feet, retain space of 8,885 square feet, and amenity space of 1,773 square feet. The proposed plan has 113 parking spaces, which includes 41 outside parking spots and 73 garage spaces. “I look forward to working with neighbors and elected officials to seek solutions to the current issues including traffic and parking. I strive to support a development that will address the issues and enhance the East Milton community.”
Kelleher is compelled to address some of the long-term capital projects including the fire stations. “I look forward to hearing the recommendations from the Fire Station Building Committee, that was appointed by the Moderator. I would like to pursue options to address the needs of the fire department, seek input, meet safety requirements, and determine whether it’s best to maintain and improve existing infrastructure or look towards other alternate sites. Ultimately, we should preserve the character of these historical buildings, whether they are updated to existing specifications or if it is determined that these sites would serve another purpose.”
Kelleher has a graduate degree in Health Services Administration from Suffolk University, and a Master of Science degree from Salve Regina University. Kelleher has an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from Salve Regina University. Kelleher has been employed in health care administration both at health plans and physician hospital health care systems. Kelleher seeks to bring his background in business administration to the Town Meeting member role.
“I will strive to listen to the residents of Precinct 8 and make informed decisions. I will seek to understand the different viewpoints on issues. I sincerely ask for one of your votes for Town Meeting Member in Precinct 8 on April 24, so I may represent you and our neighbors.”
