Milton Academy announces extra 5 minutes for Community Free Skate in exchange for $300 million in property assessment
This Saturday’s Community Free Skate, generously donated to Milton residents by Milton Academy, will be considering extending its free skate from 9:00 – 9:10 a.m to 9:00 – 9:15 a.m.!
That’s a full (possible) 15 minutes of FREE skating!
While owning property that would result in a $3.2 million tax bill if the school were a business and — also having faculty and children in tax-free housing sending dozens of said children to Milton Public Schools at $14,000+ annually, in 2016-2017, the Academy voluntarily paid approximately $109,000* in property taxes (yes, for the entire year), which is the cost of tuition for approximately 2.1 boarding students. In 2016, the average Milton resident’s tax bill was $5,438.*
Take advantage, neighbors – this (possible) generous opportunity from one of the largest property owners and lowest payers of taxes to Milton doesn’t come along often!
