Dr. Ruth Potee to speak at Milton High School for her talk, “Under Construction: What every parent should know about the tween/teen brain and substance use”
Milton’s PARENT Speaker Series to take place on Thursday, February 8th
The Milton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Milton Public Schools are co-sponsoring an important talk by Dr. Ruth Potee, a nationally recognized expert on teen/tween brain development, as part of Milton’s PARENT Speaker Series.
Dr. Potee’s talk, “Under Construction: What every parent should know about the tween/teen brain and substance use” begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th, 2018 at the Milton High School Auditorium. A unique interactive exhibit ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ opens at 6:00 p.m. The program is free and open to parents, teachers and community members.
Dr. Potee is a sought after featured speaker and expert who is known for her dynamic presentations on teen/tween brain development. Dr. Potee helps Parent/guardians and community members understand the maturing adolescent brain and its impact on risk-taking behavior including the use of opiates, other drugs and alcohol. She is an engaging speaker and will explain ways to help safeguard our children’s wellbeing and promote healthy decision-making.
Prior to Dr. Potee’s talk, and back by popular demand, the ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ exhibit offers parents and guardians an interactive learning experience for spotting warning signs of possible substance misuse by using a recreated typical teen bedroom.
Dr. Potee is a family medicine practitioner in Greenfield, MA and winner of the 2015 Community Clinician of the Year award. Funding for this presentation comes from the Blue Hills Community Health Alliance and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Milton.
