The Milton Historical Society annual Holiday Open House will be held Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 1-3 pm at the historic Suffolk Resolves House, 1370 Canton Avenue, Milton. The house will be festively decorated for the holiday season. Light refreshments will be served.
In the parlor Emma Green and Sarah Cabral will be playing traditional Christmas carols on the Viola and Violin. Visitors are invited to bring the family, meet with old friends, make new ones and view many of the acquisitions in the Society’s collection from all periods in Milton history including an extensive collection of Milton scene post cards, portraits of residents, needlework and samplers and artifacts from local companies.
The sword and scabbard of Daniel Vose will be on display. On September 9, 1774 Vose, a leading Milton citizen and prosperous merchant, hosted a convention of delegates representing the Suffolk County towns. They unanimously approved 19 resolutions denouncing the British violation of colonial rights which became known as “SUFFOLK RESOLVES”. Possey Godfrey who is a direct descendent of Daniel Vose donated the Sword and Scabbard to the Milton Historical Society.
