East Church’s Music Committee invites you to participate in a Drum Circle on Sunday, November 5th, from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., downstairs in Fellowship Hall. It’s FREE! All ages are welcome, and no previous drumming experience is required, or expected.
What’s a Drum Circle?
The short answer is, a Drum Circle is a group of people playing hand-drums and percussion in a circle. Drum Circles are not performances. Rather, participants gather together with other community members in a circle, which by design has no hierarchy. The objective is to share rhythm and get in tune with each other and ourselves – to form a group consciousness, and to resonate as we drum together. A Drum Circle can be a fun but powerful team building or community bonding technique. Participants find themselves absorbed in the rhythm, and energized by the sense of being involved in a collective experience.
Our Drum Circle event this year will be facilitated by professional percussionist Ed Sorrentino (www.rhythmspeaks.com). East Church is located at 610 Adams Street, East Milton. There is plenty of free parking, both behind and next to the church. Please enter via the Church’s rear (parking lot) door and follow the sounds of happy voices. Elevator access is available, also from the rear parking area.
