Milton Commission on Disability provides volunteer opportunities
The Milton Commission on Disability is looking for a few good volunteers.
The Commissioners are the eyes, ears and mouth of residents with disabilities. Less than two hours a month with attendance at Commissions Sidon meetings allowed by just calling can make an important difference in the quality of life of many people.
The link below details the legal Charge of the Commission and a link to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which makes it mandatory to provide reasonable access to those with disabilities.
Access is more than wheelchair ramps and automatic door openers. Access for those with sensitivity to chemicals in fragranced products may prevent disabling migraines, asthma attacks and, even worse, anaphylactic incidents.
Education is the key to meeting the obligations of the ADA as well as our moral obligation to assist those with disabilities and to prevent disabling incidents for others.
Many Milton residents, employees and visitors need the work of the Commission to assist with their personal and business matters.
We need a few qualified volunteers urgently. Please send any questions to the Chair of the Commission on Disability [email protected] m.
