Milton Public Library to show “The Finest Hours” for Tuesday Night at the Movies

On Tuesday, October 17th, the film “The Finest Hours” will screen promptly at 6:30 p.m.  The program is supported by The Milton Library Foundation, in anticipation of their upcoming Literary Gala to support the Milton Public Library.   The story was written by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias, and Mr. Tougias will be the speaker for the November 1st event at Granite Links in Quincy.  To purchase tickets to the 12th Literary Gala, visit www.MLFLiteraryGala.org.   This movie is based on the extraordinary true story of the greatest small-boat rescue in Coast Guard history and is a tale of courage, loyalty and honor in the face of overwhelming odds.  When a massive storm strikes off the coast of Cape Cod, it rips a T-2 oil tanker in half, trapping more than 30 sailors on its rapidly sinking stern.  As Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine) and his crew set out in a 12-seat rescue boat to save them, Chief Engineer Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck) struggles to buy his men more time.  Packed with heroic larger-than-life action and driven by the men’s faith in their mission, themselves and one another, this film is a triumph.  It is rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of peril” and the running time is 117 minutes.  Please join us for a wonderful movie.

All of these programs are kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library, and the concert series is also supported by the Milton Woman’s Club.  They are free and open to the public, and will be held in the Keys Community Room unless otherwise specified.  Please come and enjoy our library’s happenings this October.  For more information, go to our website  or contact Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at 617-698-5757, x. 3.
