Where: Milton Hoosic Club, 193 Central Avenue, Milton
The Friends of the Blue Hills will host their Annual Celebration on Thursday, October 5, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Milton Hoosic Club, 193 Central Avenue. The evening will include hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, and the presentation of the organization’s 2017 Community Partners Awards.
Tucker Smith, a well-known conservationist in town, will be one of the honorees at this year’s event. Tickets are $35 if purchased by October 2 and $40 at the door and are available at www.FriendsoftheBlueHills.org/Celebrate2017.
The keynote speaker will be Peter Gittleman from Historic New England. He supervises the visitor experience at the organization’s 37 sites, including the Eustis Estate in Milton. The Eustis Estate is a rare surviving example of late nineteenth-century architecture which sits on 80 acres of picturesque landscape at the base of the Blue Hills. Mr. Gittleman, an entertaining and popular speaker, will discuss the history of the estate and its significance to the Blue Hills Reservation.
There will also be a special raffle as part of the festivities: a gourmet dinner for six at the top of the Blue Hills Observatory, catered by The Townshend in Quincy. The Townshend just won the “Best of Boston” award for General Excellence-South. Tickets for the raffle are $15 each or 3/$35 and can be purchased at www.FriendsoftheBlueHills.org/Raffle2017 .
