Forbes House Museum offers opportunity to volunteer as a tour guide
The Forbes House Museum is seeking volunteers to lead tours of the house and grounds throughout the year. You don’t have to be a history expert (although that is a plus!), but if you are curious, friendly and want to be part of a unique Milton institution, then we’d like to hear from you.
Designed by Isaiah Rogers in the Greek Revival Style, the house is an historic jewel inside and out, and furnished with eclectic art, artifacts and objects used by the family and their staff. The job of the tour guide is to lead visitors through the mansion, sharing stories of the astute businessmen, fearless seamen, generous philanthropists, and avid collectors who made the home the distinct treasure it is today.
A brief training program will prepare you to lead visitors on hour-long tours, and there will be continuing educational opportunities throughout the year. The next training program will take place in the fall of 2017.
Hours
Tours are offered Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The commitment of a tour guide is flexible and can easily be worked around family, personal and/or work schedules.
