Enrichment Day at Stone Zoo!
When: Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: Stone Zoo, 149 Pond Street, Stoneham
Have you ever wondered why some of the animals have spinner toys, balls and other items in their exhibits? This is called enrichment and it plays a key role in our animal care program. Enrichment can be offered in a variety of different ways – zookeepers use novelty foods, sounds, smells, boxes, bags, and toys to provide activities that excite all the senses. Environmental enrichment encourages animals to use their natural abilities and behaviors to interact with their environment.
Visit Stone Zoo on July 22 and discover why enrichment is so important. Throughout the day, guests will have the opportunity to see many of the animals receive enrichment items during zookeeper chats, partake in their own enrichment during fitness activities and games, and learn about healthy eating habits at the education table.
