Dear Friends,
I am writing to let you know I am running for Milton Public Library Trustee in this spring’s Town Election.
Our library is the cultural centerpiece for our community, and my job as a Library Trustee will be to support the director and to maintain the level of quality that patrons have come to expect.
I have a love for libraries both professionally and personally, and will bring my experience and commitment to the position.
Professionally, as an architect with William Rawn Associates, I was the project manager for the Boston Public Library Central Branch Renovation which began in 2013 and opened this past July. I previously assisted on the construction of the East Boston Branch library and currently, I am working on the Valente Branch Library for the City of Cambridge. This professional experience has provided me a unique view into library operations. I have worked with many in the library profession and learned how public libraries can serve 21st-century needs and patrons.
Personally, I have enjoyed the Milton Public Library since our first days in Milton. It has served our family with its welcoming staff, the wonderful Childrens’ and Teens’ rooms, as well as our favorite programming like Chess a Palooza and Sunday Shakespeare.
Recently, I served on the Milton Public Library Long Range Plan Committee, which worked with the library director to develop the library’s five-year strategic plan. I hope to continue to make a meaningful contribution as a Library Trustee.
Among the areas I hope to contribute to are:
- Increase programming and services for teens and seniors
- Support the implementation of the Long Range Plan
- Leverage my knowledge and expertise in library design and utilization of existing spaces to better serve our community.
Born in Chicago, IL, I am a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University. I have lived in Milton for 15 years and with my husband Geoff, am a proud parent of our three children Sachin (16), Rohan (13), and Divya (10), who have all enjoyed their time in the Milton Public Schools. We attend both the Saint Mary of the Hills and St. Agatha’s church.
I am asking you to help in two ways:
- Please save the date and vote for me for Library Trustee at the Annual Town Election: April 25, 2017: polls open 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
- Please spread the word and ask your friends and family to do the same.
Please, feel free to contact me at any time with your questions/concerns or if you would like to volunteer to help with my campaign.
Thank you,
Sindu Meier
