East Congregational Church to hold Elementary Musicians Festival
When: Sunday, March 12, 2017, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Where: East Congregational Church, 610 Adams St, Milton
A NEW festival for elementary music students in grades 1 – 5 who either live or study in Milton.
Sponsored by the Milton Young Musicians Festival and Milton Performing Arts
Each student will prepare one or two pieces with their private teacher to play on this festival. Upon arrival they will work one–on–one with an accompanist or piano coach for 10 minutes, then play for a performance master class with other students. This performance class is 45 minutes and is open to all: parents, teachers, and friends and other students. Each student will play their piece or pieces (with the accompanist) for a professional guest artist who will give comments and suggestions as well as work individually with each performer.
This is a great opportunity for younger students to work with an accompanist and perform in a recital atmosphere while working with another professional musician on their instrument. The master classes are mixed giving students the opportunity to hear a variety of instruments and different levels of playing.
The Application Form is available online and at each school. For more information talk to your music teacher or contact Lynn Salmonsen, [email protected], Director of the Milton Musicians Festivals. There are no levels or assigned repertoire. Music is chosen by the student and teacher, either two short pieces or one longer piece to perform at the festival. Memorization is applauded, but not required. Each student should bring 2 copies of their music and the piano part.
The registration deadline is March 8, 2017. The registration fee is $30 per student. Each student will spend approximately one and a half hours at the festival. Individual times will be assigned.
