Milton Veterans Day Observance to be held November 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Town Green.
The Town of Milton, Milton American Legion Post 114, and the office of Veteran Services, announce this year’s Veterans Day Observance which will be held on November 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Town Green.
Milton’s Board of Selectmen and Director of Veterans’ Services, Kevin J. Cook along with the members of the American Legion will conduct ceremonies to commemorate Veterans past and present.
This year’s ceremony will be significant as we will be honoring all of Milton’s Korean War Veterans who defended South Korea and her people and who served from 1950 -1953. The Town of Milton’s Challenge Coin, which was commissioned in May of 2016, will be awarded to all Korean War Veterans who would like to participate in this year’s Veterans Day program. If any Korean War Veteran would like to receive this coin, please contact Kevin J. Cook, at the Milton Veterans Office at 617-898-4939.
New to this year’s observance will be the recognition of the essay and poster contest winners from the Milton public schools. The theme of both contests is “What Is a Veteran?” Both the winning poster and essay will be featured at the observance.
The ceremony honoring all veterans will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. with a procession down Canton Avenue to the Town Green beginning at 10:30 a.m.
If you would like to be a participant in this year’s observance, you may contact the Selectmen’s Office at 617-898-4843.
