A Conversation about Inclusion, Tuesday November 1, 2016
The Milton Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is proud to host Dr. Anne Howard on Tuesday November 1, 2016 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Pierce Middle School library.
Dr. Howard, a Professor in the Education Department at Fitchburg State University and the president of the Board of Directors for the Federation for Children with Special Needs, will lead a conversation about inclusion. Dr. Howard will explain the history and the legislative backdrop of including students with disabilities in general education. She will discuss approaches to
educating all students and fostering a culture of inclusion.
Anne M. Howard, Ph.D., coordinates the undergraduate and graduate programs in severe disabilities, as well as the Special Education Guided Studies graduate programs at Fitchburg State University. Anne began her career as a physical therapist, became licensed as a general and special educator, and received her Ph.D. in disability policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University. She has provided extensive training for paraprofessionals, teachers, related service providers, and administrators throughout New England. Anne serves on the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (MDSC) Education Task Force and contributed to the MDSC Educator’s Manual.
