The Milton Public Library is offering some fun programs this summer which are appropriate for adults and older teens. On Wednesdays – July 13th and 27th – instructor Betty Siegel welcomes writers of all levels to join her for a “Drop-in Writing Workshop” held in the lower level Conference Room from 7-8:30 p.m.
Come share your stories and drafts for a lively conversation and some valuable advice to help improve your presentation as an author. All levels of writing experience welcome. Then on Thursday, July 21st join other coloring fans for our drop-in “Coloring for Grownups” also held in the Conference Room from 7-8 p.m. Coloring is a very relaxing and creative activity which brings people together in a fun social way.
And the “Tuesday Night at the Movies” July pick – which will be screened on July 26th – is “Bridge of Spies”and it will start at 6 p.m. because of the film’s longer running time of 141 minutes. This movie stars Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance in a dramatic thriller set against the backdrop of a series of historic events. James Donovan is a Brooklyn lawyer who finds himself thrust into the center of the Cold War when the CIA sends him on a nearly impossible mission to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. High stakes and suspense power a story that captures the essence of a man who risked everything, vividly bringing his personal journey to life. It is rated PG-13 for some violence and brief strong language. Actor Mark Rylance won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as an undercover KGB agent living in America, so don’t miss this one.
All programs are held in the lower level Keys Community Room, unless otherwise noted, and are free and open to the public. They are sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library and for more information, call Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at (617) 698-5757, x. 3. The library is located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton.
