Dear friends and neighbors in precinct 2, my name is Thomas Buchau. I am running to represent you at town meeting, and I ask for your vote. Allow me to tell you a little bit about me.
My wife Brigid and I have lived on Cantwell Road in Milton since 2006. We have three kids all attending the Milton Public Schools. Áine and Aurora are at Pierce (in the 8th and 6th grade, respectively), and Doyle is in 1st grade at Glover.
I work at the Newton Public Schools in the Information Technology department. I have been with NPS since 2002. As a Tech Support Specialist I provide direct technical support to the staff, students, and systems at two middle schools and work on district-wide initiatives and systems as well.
Community involvement has always been important to me. I served in the U.S. Army Reserve. I am a member of the Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee, both advocating and acting to make Milton a more bicycle-friendly town. I am on the board of directors for Milton Soccer, and I was the program director from 2011 to 2015 for Milton Soccer’s Youth Development League (YDL), which later became the K-2 Program. I coached both my girls’ soccer teams when they were younger, and I am happy to be back coaching for my son Doyle’s team.
When I think of Milton, many things come to mind: outdoor spaces, great schools, fantastic sports options, involved community, local business, just to name a few. If you elect me to represent you in town meeting, I will aim to preserve those elements that make Milton great. I will also encourage those changes that better serve us all as a community.
In my free time I love spending time with my family, watching the Bruins (unfortunately not much of that going on right now), playing soccer, cycling, going to see bands, and getting out to the pub with friends.
Please consider casting your vote for me on April 26, 2016. Vote for Thomas Buchau for precinct 2 town meeting member.
Thanks!
Thomas
