Joan Clifford announces Town Meeting Member candidacy for Precinct 8
I have lived in Milton on Hillcrest Road for over 20 years with my husband Kevin Dambruch and two daughters, Catherine, a graduate of Milton Public Schools, now working in advertising in NYC and Mairead, who will graduate in a few weeks from Milton High School and will attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall.
After graduating from Salem State University, I received my Masters in Journalism/Photojournalism from Boston University. I worked as a photographer at newspapers and a business journal and teach photography at Quincy College.
My first volunteer community action was organizing clean ups for the Collicot School playground picking up glass and trash. I was co-president of the Collicot School PTO for two years, and also co-founded FAVA, Friends and Advocates of the Visual Arts, which offered after school art enrichment classes when art was slashed from school budgets. This organization turned into the Milton Art Center, based in the old East Milton Library, a nonprofit community art center connecting people who know how important the arts are for creating meaningful lives. We have over 50+ volunteers running art programs and music events that are low cost and/or free for our town.
I’m a founder and the Executive Director at the Milton Art Center. I have worked with our town administrator, Town Selectmen, the Milton Public Schools, local business owners, the Chamber of Commerce, and have collaborated with other non profit organizations to produce events and programming for the benefit of our community.
My reason for running for town meeting member is a desire to continue working towards improving our town’s quality of life.
Please vote for me!
Thank you,
Joan Clifford
