In an unexpected turn of events, it appears that the East Milton Square Deck Project will be completed by the end of this July.  Federal, state and local officials along with town planners, bond underwriters, contracting firms, community groups and park proponents were all able to come to a swift, reasonable agreement on the size and scope of parking on the span, the routing of traffic, signage and greenery, design as well as the financing and work-plan for the project. A product of reasonable compromises and swift implementation, the development of the deck is being hailed as a model for other town projects.

Reached for comment, one member of the negotiating group said:

“I’m not sure what we’ve doing for the previous six years. I mean, really, what’s the difference between 34 spots and 27 spots in the grand scheme of things?”
