Fellow Milton residents, my name is Bob Hiss and I am a candidate for Town Moderator.
My wife Mary and our three children have lived in town for the past 17 years. I have served the town as a current Town Meeting member in Precinct 3 and a member of the Town Government Study Committee. I have volunteered as a Milton youth soccer coach, as Pack Master for Cub Scout Pack 5 and as a member of the Vestry at St. Michael’s Church. I have run companies as a CEO, led boards of directors, recruited talented people to my teams and currently work as a Managing Director of Accenture.
As Moderator, I will work to bring the following benefits to Milton residents:
- Manage our Town Meetings to provide an open forum for its members to speak while respecting the time of those in attendance.
- Recruit qualified members for our many committees such as the Warrant Committee, Audit Committee and the Personnel Board to bring diverse and balanced experiences to the table.
- Use my innovation and creativity to increase member understanding of articles, increase the use of technology to improve the meeting experience, and to encourage residents to run for and participate in Town Meeting.
I am interested in hearing your ideas about Town Meeting. Some of mine include holding and video recording information sessions for members in advance on important topics, encouraging electronic submission of changes to articles before Town Meeting to expedite motions and increase understanding, and projecting changes to articles on the auditorium screen so members can see and quickly understand the motion.
I am running for Town Moderator because I love Milton and our Town Meeting. I respectfully ask for your vote on April 26. Please visit Facebook.com/HissForModerator to learn more.
