Dear Neighbors:
I would like to take a minute to thank you for your support with Milton Neighbors and the Milton Scene over the past year.
As many of you know, Milton Neighbors started out as a means to fill a void for expanded local knowledge (electrician? hair stylist? school questions?). I never dreamed it would take off like it did. It now has over 3600 members and I add a good twenty more every week. The Milton Scene is now just shy of five months old. I have over 700 subscribers to the email list and it keeps growing.
I have received countless emails and messages over past two and a half years, thanking me for the time and effort that I put into Milton Neighbors and the Milton Scene. Even critiques nearly always start out with “thank you for all you do.” It is nice to feel appreciated.
I now would like to thank all of you for your help and support of one another. Last winter, during snowmageddon, multiple people made roof rake runs and brought the extras to one another (must read: how to prepare your home for winter). Just yesterday, a resident brought a shopping-weary neighbor some Nutella. Somebody else asked for extra chairs for her Thanksgiving dinner and five people responded within the hour. Family pets are lost — but they are found quickly, often after spending time being hosted in a neighbor’s fenced-in yard.
Without a lot of statistics, I would venture a guess that local businesses are also seeing growth. Neighbors are helping and supporting one another in business. One resident recently told me that she estimates 40% of her new business comes from Milton Neighbors and the Milton Scene. Another told me that as a result of these sites, she now reaches customers that she previously didn’t have access to.
So, thank you all, for making this a success. I am so grateful to live in Milton and so thankful for my Milton Neighbors.
Happy Thanksgiving, Milton!
