Rich Hill turned four starts into the best contract of his career. The lefthander from Milton agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday night.
Hill, 35, was out baseball after the Washington Nationals released him from their Triple A roster in June.
Without other options, Hill signed with the independent Long Island Ducks and returned to starting for the first time since 2009. Hill struck out 21 in 11 innings for the Ducks and was signed to a minor league contract by the Red Sox.
