Finalists Announced: Public to Select Next Milton Reads
Milton Reads 2016—One Book; One Town—the town-wide reading initiative now in its fifth year, is inviting all Milton readers to vote for the next book selection. Last spring, the pubic submitted book titles for consideration, and the finalists have now been announced.
They are:
- Dead Wake by Erik Larson, the true story of the attack on the luxury ocean liner Lusitania during World War I
- Deep Down Dark by Héctor Tobar, the true story of the survival of thirty-three Chilean miners in 2010
- Echo by Pam Muñoz Ryan, a fictional exploration of three young people encountering music and troubles during the World War II era
- The Finest Hours by Michael Tougias, the true story of a Coast Guard rescue of two boats in 1952.
“Our committee spent the summer reading and reading,” reports Library Director Will Adamczyk. “Our challenge was to read all the recommendations and find titles that would engage the entire community in one shared cultural activity, reading the same book. We are excited about these possibilities. This is our opportunity for Milton to be truly on the same page!”

Any holder of a library card, young or old, can vote for one book to become the selection for Milton Reads 2016. Polls open November 5, and all comers can vote at the Milton Public Library or online at www.miltonlibrary.org.
Detailed information about each book is available in the library and online. And Milton Reads Committee members will share their insights about each title on Milton Access Television.
The selection will be announced early in the New Year.
Milton Reads is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
