The Oct. 26 special town meeting will be asked to approve a measure which will increase the board of selectmen from three to five members.

The town government study committee Tuesday night voted unanimously to submit the proposal for the special town meeting warrant. The change, which needs the approval of the state Legislature, would not take effect until the 2017 at the earliest.

“It will be the biggest discussion item at the Fall town meeting,” said Former Selectman Marvin Gordon, a member of the government study committee.
